Q&A#5 Sony A9 or Canon R5 – Sony A7SIII for Stills? – D500 IN 2021 – A7SIII for Wildlife Video

I just posted my first video of 2021. In this video I take questions from viewers and readers like you and answer them to the best of my knowledge. Some of the questions I answer include:

  • Sony A9 or Canon R5?
  • Is the Sony A7SIII good for still photography?
  • What type of file is best for printing images?
  • Is the Nikon D500 still a good wildlife camera option in 2021?
  • Are you leaving Sony cameras behind in favor of the new Canon R5?

I answer these questions and a few more in the video below. Enjoy!

Hope you and your son are still fairing well with all this Covid around. I have subscribed to your notes and followed your recommendations to the letter. I previously sent you a photo of the Osprey carrying a orange Garibaldi from California.
Anyway my question relates to the new Sony Alpha a1. I mainly use the Sony 200-600mm with my a9M2 rather than my a7R4 (per your recommendation). Can you hazard a guess (unless they let you use the Alpha) as to whether the 200-600mm will work well with the Alpha or will you have to wait until you get them in the field.

The camera will be available sometime inMarch and I hope to get one early.
In the meantime stay safe and away from that virus.

    1. I haven’t used it as of 1-30-2021. I hope to give it a spin soon so I can’t comment on its performance.
