A Morning With Sandhill Crane Chicks – Sony A7SIII – Sony A7RIV – 600F4 1.4 Tele

In February of 2021 I was lucky enough to spend a morning with some newly hatched Sandhill cranes. I used my Sony A7RIV and the Sony A7SIII to capture some incredible moments that helps tell the story of two brand new Sandhill Crane chicks. This video is a great way to start the new year. Enjoy.

  1. Mark, I very much enjoyed your video of the newly hatched Sandhill Cranes. The Sandhills are my favorites – I am fortunate to live in an area that the Cranes call home from April through November. Last year a pair laid eggs and I photographed them every day from April 23 to July 21. It was truly incredible to see the day-to-day progression and interaction with the parents. Are you planning to go out this year to get more shots of cranes?

If you’re interested, you can view my crane photos on my site (under “project”). Feel free to critique, I can use (and appreciate) all the advice I can get. I used a Sony 9 with the 200-600mm G for most all of the shots. I have since moved to the Sony 1 and am anxious for the cranes to return this Spring.

Thanks for sharing your pictures, videos and knowledge. Good luck with your projects and take care.
